Oh Oslo

A bona fide Oslo Magazine for the curious minds.

Oh Oslo is a creative magazine I created and published back in 2018. With help from print designer Grigory Popov and photographer/video artist Kalun and editorial support from friends, I put together a one-of-a-kind cultural guide for Oslo – the city I call home, often seen as Scandinavia’s overlooked little brother.

The concept is simple: in each book, we explore one unique aspect of Oslo to offer readers a 360-degree view of the city. Our aim is to celebrate the tiny details that make Oslo exceptional, rather than focusing on trite narratives and consumerism.

The end result is nothing short of a quirky little book with a dash of brutalist design and a sulky anti-design attitude, featuring a handful of interviews with truly exceptional artists and legendary local heroes from Oslo’s music and cultural scene.

Unfortunately, the journey was cut short. After publishing the first issue of Oh Oslo, I quickly realised I just didn't enjoy the distribution and business side of things that much – and on top of that, I was running out of dosh (and fuel as well, to be honest). How typical. So, with a heavy heart, I decided to stop at the peak (Ha!) and wrap up the series with one issue on music, a topic very dear to my heart.

I'll be sharing some articles from the magazine here in the future. Visit here if you're interested in having a copy. And here’s the description for the magazine back then:

To share our love and admiration for our beloved Nordic city with our fellow Osloers and the world, we have produced this hybrid magazine and city guide – an unorthodox approach to travel journalism – to reflect our creativity and offer an in-depth insight into the cultural fabric of the city. The theme of this very first issue is music.
In this issue, we meet some incredible individuals who are creating their colourful life stories in Oslo. Some are sound makers, some are shop owners, all are pursuing their dreams and visions in Oslo.
We are embarking on a unique journey in search of the souls and sounds of Oslo.
